Week 1 vs Old Brighton Seniors As expected, the first game of the season turned out to be a scrappy affair. At times Old Brighton had 8 players behind the ball hoping to catch us on the counter-attack. Our game plan was non-existent in the first half which meant we had all our midfielders out of the game. A penalty awarded for a handball in the area presented us with the first opportunity to go 1-0 up, which was confidently converted by Ted.The second half started much better with our midfielders getting on top early and from there on, it was smooth sailing. Thierry finished his first competitive game with the Sparrows team with a hat-trick, along with a dislocated shoulder and a concussion. The defence, led by Mick, J.R and Hugo were solid and some fantastic efforts by the above-mentioned ensured we finished the first game of the year with a clean sheet and a 4-0 win.
