NOBLE Park's expanding business fraternity will soon have a new voice with a retail traders' association set to start next month. Months of hard work have gone into the Noble Park Retail Traders' Association, an idea first floated in The Journal late last year. Office bearers are expected to be elected next month. The driving force behind the group, Salim Karim, of K4 Computers, said there was a real need for a group to bring Noble Park's business community together. "We need someone to be a point of contact between the council and the business fraternity. There has been plenty of interest and we are always looking for more people, not only to become members but also to get involved with the running of the association.'' Mr Karim said the group would aim to bring local businesses closer to the community. "Members can expect promotion of businesses as a group. "We've got an idea at the moment for a calendar that we'll distribute to all people in Noble Park. "We want to have events to encourage participation of the local public to promote local schools and community groups with the backing of businesses. "It will be for the people of Noble Park by the people of Noble Park and really give a sense of ownership to the community.'' Mr Karim said the group would "give it a shot'' and he hoped most local businesspeople would become members. The NPRTA already has a website set up to promote the Noble Park community at www.noblepark.net.au To be part of the new group, phone Mr Karim on 0413 962 001. |
