Team GB at the Olympics
It’s that time of year again (Euro 2012 is already a distant memory and the new season is still a few weeks away) when football punters look for something to do with their time and their betting slips – luckily, this summer, we have Olympic football to keep us entertained.
Team GB’s Prospects
Team GB gets its Olympic campaign underway on 26th July against Senegal at Old Trafford, meaning that team captain Ryan Giggs will be very much on home turf.
Speculation is rife that manager Stuart Pearce has not had enough time to prepare his squad, who, if they get past the first round, will have to fend off the winners of the Beijing 2008 gold medal, Argentina, as well as gold-medal-hungry Brazil, for the title.
Brazil Favourites to Win?
Team GB didn’t qualify to compete in Beijing 2008, so admittedly their chances this time around may be a little slim. Many punters’ bets are on Brazil, who, although they scooped only bronze in Beijing, are said to be especially determined to triumph at London 2012 – the Olympics are the only international football competition Brazil has never won – as they prepare to host the World Cup in 2014.
